Dear Juan, When a person forgets to confess a serious sin and later remembers it, he need not be anxious. His sin is forgiven because, in making his act of contrition, he includes all the sins of his life. If he later remembers a sin he has forgotten to confess, he must include it in his next confession, telling the priest that he forgot it in his last confession. This is a worrisome thing and disturbs the peace of one's soul, so here are two or three suggestions to help avoid forgetfulness. 1) Go to confession often. If the last confession was only two weeks ago or even a month, the chance of forgetting a sin is slim. 2) Take sufficient time before confession to pray and to examine your conscience carefully. 3) Use a prayerbook with helpful questions to assist in preparing for confession. Two such convenient prayerbooks are: a) in English: "An Adult's Confession booklet" by Maguire and Faherty. This is published by Liguori Press for 75 cents. b) in Spanish: "La Reconciliacion explicada al Pueblo". This is published by Ediciones Paulinas, S.A -- Avenida Taxquena 1792-Mexico 21, D.F. Mexico. It costs $1.10. Both booklets are available from the Daughters of St. Paul Bookstores in San Diego at 1570-5th Avenue (at Cedar Street) 92101. Telephone (619) 232-1442 or -1443.
