Dear Nancy,
Certainly it would be proper for you to join the inquirers' class
given by the priest who instructed your sister-in-law. It would
be courteous also to inform the priest who comes to say Mass in
your town taht you are receiving instruction.
And here is a lesson in Catholic vocabulary: the priest SAYS Mass
or OFFERS Mass or CELEBRATES Mass. The man or woman, boy or girl
who assists the priest SERVES the Mass.
