Tue 10-19-92 0:44 (NO KILL) From: Father Mateo To: Joseph Soule' Subject: evangelization JS| I understand that God loves all men, especially those who do good works |and worship Him. But, I also believe that Catholicism embodies a more |complete understanding, and is more whole. | Where does evangelization fit in? The scriptures speak of the different |parts of the body, and how the lower parts are clothed to bring them more |honor ( I hope that isn' too bad a misquote). |Why should we Catholics bring those into Christs Body when Gods body |already encompasses them? Dear Joseph, Indeed, God our Savior loves all human beings and wants us all to be saved (1st Tim 2:3-4). To be saved, we must come to a knowledge of the Truth (ibid.) Jesus is the Truth, and no one comes to the Father except through Jesus (John 14:6). Evangelization carries out the command of Christ Himself (Mark 6:7-3; Luke 10:1-12; and especially Matt 28:19-20). St. Paul writes: "Woe to me if I do not preach the gospel!" (1 Cor. 9:16). See also Rom. 10:14-15. Your reference to Scripture's teaching on the different parts of the body is puzzling to me. 1st Corinthians, ch. 12, has to do with the various members of the Body of Christ, which is the Church (Col. 1:24). Scripture nowhere talks of *two* bodies, the Body of Christ and the Body of God. There is only the Body of Christ, that is the Church, to which everyone is called so as to be saved. Sincerely in Christ, Father Mateo
